Our reviews are broken up into several categories and a score. The score is the overall score for the game, and categories are not individually scored. All reviews may have some unavoidable inherent bias in them, and all biases will be fully disclosed within the review. The TL;DR of each review is the conclusion, with the “But is it Fun?” being the most important section to find opinions and reasoning for the score given.
Concept Overview: This is where we describe the game for anyone who has not played it. This section will cover all of the major systems and mechanics in a fact-based manner, leaving out opinion to the best of our abilities and analyzing the intended effect of each game system.
Artstyle & Sound: Here we review the game’s art, sound, and design. In this section you’ll find information on the environment and atmosphere, as well as sound track and character design.
Playability: This section is where we will talk about how the game feels. Any glitches or issues with the controls will be described here, along with anything that feels unfair. We will also speak on the UI and how easy it is to pick up the game.
But is it Fun?: This is the bulk of the opinions in the review. Here we will go over everything we talked about in the “Concept Overview,” but now with our opinion inserted. We will review all of the game’s systems and mechanics, and give better context to the score we have given the game. If you are strapped for time, this is the section to skip to in order to get the justification for the score.
Replay Value: Here we will discuss the game’s replay value; how enjoyable the game is when played multiple times. Some games, such as online multiplayer games, have a clear advantage in this category. Games can have a replay values of: Very Low, Low, Medium, High, and Very High.
Conclusion: A final note to sum up the review. Here we’ll suggest what type of player might enjoy this game, and whether the game is worth purchasing.
