99Floors is dungeon crawling platformer guaranteed to enrage its players as death sends them straight back to the beginning. Feel the joy as you press further than you ever had before through the 99 different levels toward the game’s finish, only to have that joy snuffed out by a tragic death. 99Floors claims to be the “World’s Hardest Game” and to this day remains unbeaten. The creator of the game has put out a cash prize, currently set at $5,000, to the first person to beat the game. Think that could be you? Grab a copy of the game and get to it!

The game’s traps and enemies are randomly generated to provide a fresh experience on every play through, mixing in 10 different stages to keep things fresh. The game will get increasingly difficult, spawning new enemies and traps in an effort to send you back to floor 1.

99Floors is very well designed. Every aspect of the game’s mechanical design as well as it’s aesthetic look has been carefully planned out. Luke Powell went the extra mile in ensuring a uniform look and unique style for the pixel graphics and website. Small details that are often overlooked by solo indie developers, such as sound design and appropriate scope, are clearly well thought out. Small details like camera shake to add impact really give the game a polished feel. The generation of game content through auto-generated traps and enemies is both fresh and well thought out, crafting fresh new levels for you to play on the fly. This game is a tightly constructed complete package and a finished product, almost refreshing in a sea of early access and betas for games with poorly thought out overly ambitious scopes.

99Floors costs $9.99 and is available for purchase from their website or itch.io. The game was released on 5/16/2018, and sold 1000 copies within three days! The game can also be tried for free on their website, though it is much slower so I’d recommend you buy the game if you want to really enjoy it.
