The game is set in a dark fantasy world where giants and humans have fought a war leading to the extinction of the giants. You play as Urtuk, a commoner who was experimented on using a mystical fluid found in the giant’s remains named “Life Essence,” and now experiences mutation that worsens his condition every day. Your journey begins as Urtuk escapes the site of these experiments, the “Sanatorium,” thanks to his old friend Eldric.

I was immediately drawn in by the game’s intense art style, featuring thick hand-drawn lines and generous shading. Each character should be examined and fully appreciated. The game underwent a graphics overhaul, resulting in its current magnificent state.

Urtuk puts some emphasis on replayability, with maps being auto-generated. Upon the death of the player’s entire party, you may have to start over, but progressing through the game unlocks additional characters and items at the start of the game.

A demo of Urtuk can be played for free on itch.io, give it a try and see what you think! Share this article and show your support for indie developers!
